TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of climatic factors on the current distribution of the European pond turtle Emys orbicularis and Trachemys scripta was analyzed using ensemble forecast techniques, subsequently projecting the obtained models under two Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) to 2050 and 2070, to investigate if global warming would boost direct competition within the study region.
Abstract: The European pond turtle Emys orbicularis is seriously threatened across Europe by the non-native common slider, Trachemys scripta, which is included among the 100 most invasive species worldwide. Using ensemble forecast techniques, we analysed the influence of climatic factors on the current distribution of these two species, subsequently projecting the obtained models under two Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) to 2050 and 2070, to investigate if global warming would boost direct competition within our study region. We implemented a gap analysis in GIS environment to assess how protected areas (PAs) may be affected by a loss of suitable area for E. orbicularis and by an expansion of T. scripta. An analysis of altitudinal range shift was evaluated, based on obtained projections. We found that both species may gain suitable area in the future, possibly because of the positive effect of increasing temperatures, and are predicted to shift from plain-to-hilly areas towards higher altitudes. These trends result in an increasing overlap of potentially suitable areas for both species, particularly within PAs; moreover, a niche analysis highlights that the results obtained are linked to the environmental niches of the two species. Our findings suggest the necessity, particularly for PAs’ authorities, of field monitoring of T. scripta and further research to more comprehensively assess biotic and abiotic factors influencing the invasiveness of this species.
TL;DR: In this paper, a sheet guide device includes a pair of movable fins for guiding the width decision of sheets of paper placed on a sheet table and a moving means to constitute a cooperative working mechanism to work in which a slider 4 makes cooperative motion through a rack 5 meshing with a pinion 6 pivoted by a pin 6a on the sheet table.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the costs for fabricating a die by using a common slider member for sheet width deciding fins, and thereby making common the die for slider members. SOLUTION: A sheet guide device includes a pair of movable fins for guiding the width decision of sheets of paper placed on a sheet table and a moving means to constitute a cooperative working mechanism to work in which a slider 4 makes cooperative motion through a rack 5 meshing with a pinion 6 pivoted by a pin 6a on the sheet table 1, wherein the arrangement further includes a protruding piece 10 formed in a single piece with the slider 4 and a projection 8 (stopper) formed on the rear surface of a casing, and when the two members are fitted to each other, the fins can no more be opened outward farther than the projection 8. If such specification is placed that a document sheet as large as ranging outside of the projection 8 must be read, the protruding piece 10 is removed so that the slider 4 is disengaged from the projection 8, which allows simply altering the specifications of the width deciding device, and in this case, the printing on the sheet size indication part is changed while the casing part remain unchanged. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a mobile phone performance tester for testing the performance of all sorts of slider phones using a profile bracket, a linear guide rail, a front and rear push arm, a push head, a pressing assembly and an oblique push block.
Abstract: The utility model relates to a mobile phone performance tester, in particular to a machine suitable for testing the performance of all sorts of slider phones The utility model is mainly and technically characterized by comprising a profile bracket (1), a linear guide rail (2), a front push arm (3), a rear push arm (4), a push head (7), a pressing assembly (8), an oblique push block (9), a first motor (10), a second motor (11), a mobile phone clamping device (12) and the like The front and rear push arms enable the tester to test all sorts of modes including a push mode and a pressing mode The mobile phone clamping device can adapt to all types of mobile phones The comprehensive slider phone tester integrates the characteristics of a common slider phone tester and a side slider phone tester, achieves multiple purposes for one machine, and is suitable for testing the performance of all sorts of slider phones
TL;DR: The duo tandem potentiometer as discussed by the authors has two parallel restive paths (P1, P2) with a common slider (S) which is moved between them, and points of high and low potential are connected to the opposite ends of the two paths.
Abstract: The duo tandem potentiometer suitable for AM and FM radio equipment or audio equipment, has two parallel restive paths (P1, P2) with a common slider (S) which is moved between them. Points of high and low potential are connected to the opposite ends of the two paths. A parallel resistance (Rp) is connected across one path (P2), at the output. This is used where two outputs of different values are obtained. When used for a logarithmic high fidelity loudspeaker system, a resistance (R1) and capacity (Ci) are incorporated in series with one of the paths (P2), giving a tone control device. The design can be used for circular paths, with a rotary slider, or linear paths with a linear slider. The device can be operated by a suitable cord drive.
TL;DR: In this article, a car with a single pump and two separate hydraulic motors to drive the rear wheels is described, where the motors are set side by side, which their fluid spaces separated by a common slider whose displacement in the one direction increases the volume of one motor by the same amount the other motor has its volume decreased.
Abstract: The hydraulic transmission of the car has a single pump and two separate hydraulic motors to drive the rear wheels. The motors are set side by side, which their fluid spaces separated by a common slider (3) whose displacement in the one direction increases the volume of the one motor by the same amount the other motor has its volume decreased. The slider provides a simple differential effect with a low degree of complexity. The gear ratio of the whole transmission is adjusted by changing the pump volume and output.
