TL;DR: In this paper, an aqueous dispersion pigment is added to the uncolored or minimally colored fire retardant composition at a time proximate to discharging the retardant onto the fuel.
Abstract: Colorized fire retardants, and methods of making and using the same, are provided that include an uncolored or minimally colored fire retardant composition and a colorant. The colorant is an aqueous dispersion, slurry, or suspension that includes an insoluble, non- fugitive pigment, e.g., red iron oxide or titanium dioxide. The aqueous dispersion pigment is added to the uncolored or minimally colored fire retardant composition at a time proximate to discharging the retardant onto the fuel. Accordingly, a user has control over the type and amount of colorant added to the fire retardant composition.
TL;DR: In this paper, a ball of colored fire appears when a salt/methanol mixture is sprayed into the flame of a Meker burner, and it can be easily recreated by repeated spraying of the mixture into the burner.
Abstract: A dramatic ball of colored fire appears when a salt/methanol mixture is sprayed into the flame of a Meker burner. The colored fireball is highly visible, even in large lecture halls. Although the fireball has a short duration, it can easily be recreated by repeated spraying of the salt/methanol mixture into the burner. The equipment for these striking flame tests is easy to prepare and store.
TL;DR: A fire fighting foam concentrate containing a fluorosurfactant-based fire fighting agent and a water-soluble dye is usually diluted with up to 100 times (v/v) water and aerated into a foam as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A fire fighting foam concentrate containing a foamable fire fighting agent, a water-soluble dye, and glycol ether. A fire fighting foam concentrate containing a fluorosurfactant-based fire fighting agent and a water-soluble dye. The concentrates are usually diluted with up to 100 times (v/v) water and aerated into a foam. In addition, a method for evaluating fire fighting foam concentrate concentration in the fire fighting foam composition created when the concentrates are diluted.
TL;DR: In this paper, a colored fire resistant fiber and a preparation method for the preparation of such a fiber is presented. But the preparation method is not suitable for the use in the real world.
Abstract: The invention discloses a colored fire resistant fiber and a preparation method thereof. The colored fire resistant fiber comprises 16-19wt% of fire retardants, 0.1-4wt% of coloring agents and the balance man-made fibers. The fire retardants comprise phosphorus-based fire retardants and silicon-based fire retardants wrapped in the phosphorus-based fire retardants, the weight ratio of the silicon-based fire retardants to the phosphorus-based fire retardants is 1:(7-11), and the particle diameter ratio of the silicon-based fire retardants to the phosphorus-based fire retardants is (2-5):1. The preparation method includes the steps: selecting any procedure from dissolution to spinning of spinning solution; adding the fire retardants and the coloring agents into the spinning solution; performing spinning and post-treatment to obtain the colored fire resistant fiber. Components of the fire retardants in the colored fire resistant fiber are sufficiently improved, and compatibility of the silicon-based fire retardants and the fibers is enhanced, so that the colored fire resistant fiber has the advantages of high color fastness, good fire resistant effect and the like.
