Abstract: The African genus Ceratogyrus of the family Theraphosidae is revised, with notes of its natural history. Seven species are recognised and distinguished in a key. Six species, namely C. bechuanicus Pocock, C. brachycephalus Hewitt, C. darlingii Pocock, C. dolichocephalus Hewitt, C. marshalli Pocock and C. sanderi Strand are redescribed and figured, C. cornuatus is newly described and figured and C. schultzei Pocock is synonymized with C. bechuanicus. Lectotypes are designated for four species namely, C. brachycephalus, C. darlingii, C. dolichocephalus and C. marshalli. Distributional data is given for all seven species.
TL;DR: During 2015 and 2016 several baboon spider specimens (Araneae: Theraphosidae) were collected in central Angola during surveys undertaken for the Okavango Wilderness Project, with every species collected either being potentially new to science or representing a significant range extension for the genus.

TL;DR: The holotype ‘‘female’’ of Harpactirella flavipilosa Lawrence, 1936 was re-examined and found to be an immature male, and a junior synonym of Pterinochilus lugardi Pocock, 1900.
Abstract: Summary The holotype ‘‘female’’ of Harpactirella flavipilosa Lawrence, 1936 was re-examined and found to be an immature male, and a junior synonym of Pterinochilus lugardi Pocock, 1900. Pterinochilus cryptus sp. n. is described from Angola. Pterinochilus leetzi Schmidt, 2002 is considered a junior synonym of Pterinochilus murinus Pocock, 1897. Ceratogyrus bechuanicus Purcell, 1902 is treated as a junior synonym of Ceratogyrus darlingi Pocock, 1897. The genus Avicuscodra Strand, 1908 is removed from the synonymy of Chaetopelma Ausserer, 1871 and made a junior synonym of Avicularia Lamarck, 1818. The Egyptian type locality of Avicuscodra arabica Strand, 1908 is considered erroneous. Heteroscodra pachypoda (Strand, 1908) is returned to the genus Stromatopelma Karsch, 1881.
