TL;DR: Buzen's algorithm is applied to the problem of determining the maintenance float needed to support an operating system with N circulating units and it is shown that the normalizing constant used in the algorithm can be computed by using geometric series, making it easy to compute the operating system availability for any given N.
Abstract: This paper applies Buzen's algorithm to the problem of determining the maintenance float needed to support an operating system with N circulating units. A maintenance network with load-independent servers is assumed. The operating system availability and maintenance floats are obtained using this iterative algorithm. It is shown that the normalizing constant used in the algorithm can easily be computed for the maintenance float problem by using geometric series. This result is further used to obtain a simple model for the expected number of operating units, thus making it easy to compute the operating system availability for any given N. Buzen's algorithm therefore provides a simple solution to the maintenance float problem.

Abstract: The paper presents the results of the wireless broadband access systems analytical modeling. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of service (QoS) parameters in a channel of a corporate network based on the IEEE 802.11 standard. Mathematical apparatus of queuing networks was chosen as a simulation tool, as it had proved its effectiveness in calculating the characteristics of infocommunication systems of various purposes and any dimensionality. The authors examined various research methods, developed the conceptual, algorithmic and programming network architecture models in the form of a closed homogeneous queuing network and calculated its characteristics. The Buzen’s algorithm was adapted to obtain the quality of service parameters for a network with Wi-Fi technology. Time-probability characteristics of the service process in the wireless broadband access systems were obtained during the simulation, such as transmission delay and network throughput for the different numbers of active subscribers. The results are presented as graphs and can be used both for designing new wireless networks and for efficient traffic management in existing ones.
