TL;DR: The intervention with breast milk combined with a breast shell was more effective than anhydrous lanolin for the treatment of nipple trauma and pain in breastfeeding women and should be encouraged among breastfeeding women to promote healing and reduce pain.
TL;DR: Distinct patterns of postpartum nipple pain were delineated and are significant both in the clinical counseling of breastfeeding women and in the design of future studies.
Abstract: The effect of the use of a breast shell in the treatment of postpartum nipple pain was compared with no treatment in a convenience sample of 20 breastfeeding women. The women served as their own controls by wearing the breast shell over one breast for four days. Pain in both nipples was evaluated daily using the verbal descriptor scale from the McGill Pain Questionnaire. Comparison of mean ranks of pain intensity with the Wilcoxon test demonstrated no significant difference between treatment and control data. However, 80% of the subjects reported they would use the breast shell again. Distinct patterns of postpartum nipple pain were delineated. These patterns of nipple pain are significant both in the clinical counseling of breastfeeding women and in the design of future studies.
TL;DR: In this article, an artificial breast implant with a silicon open cell form layer on the surface, and a producing method thereof are provided to minimize the generation of the Capsular contracture after inserting the implant into the human body.
Abstract: PURPOSE: An artificial breast implant with a silicon open cell form layer on the surface, and a producing method thereof are provided to minimize the generation of the Capsular contracture after inserting the implant into the human body. CONSTITUTION: A producing method of an artificial breast implant comprises the following steps: dipping a mold in a breast shape into a silicon solution for obtaining an artificial breast shell; drying and hardening the artificial breast shell attached to the mold using a dryer; forming an open cell foam layer(70) on the surface of the hardened shell; detaching the artificial breast shell from the mold by forming holes on the lower side of the artificial breast shell; and attaching a silicon film including a leakage prevention membrane to the holes.
TL;DR: In this article, a silicone-filled artificial breast prosthesis with a constant thickness and a silicone film bonding portion is presented, where the variation of the thickness of the artificial breast shell is eliminated to minimize the concentration of stresses and to maximize the resistance against fatigue failure.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing an artificial breast prosthesis with a minimized concentration of stresses, and more particularly, to a method for producing an artificial breast prosthesis which has superior mechanical and physical properties, a pleasant feel, and a superior efficiency as a breast prosthesis. The silicone-filled artificial breast prosthesis produced by the method of the present invention has a shell with a constant thickness, and a silicone film bonding portion, to minimize the concentration of stresses which might be applied to a user after the breast prosthesis is placed in the body of the user, and to thus maximize the resistance against fatigue failure. The method for producing an artificial breast prosthesis with a minimized concentration of stresses according to the present invention comprises: a silicone solution application step (S100) of dipping a breast-shaped mold (10) into a silicone solution (20) to obtain an artificial breast shell; a drying and hardening step (S200) of drying and hardening the artificial breast shell attached to the mold using a drier (30) to obtain an artificial breast shell; an organic chemical solution spraying step (S300) of spraying an organic chemical solution onto the lower portion of the artificial breast shell using a microsprayer (40); an artificial breast shell acquisition step (S400) of forming a hole at the lower end of the artificial breast shell which is attached to the mold and chemically treated, and detaching the artificial breast shell from the mold; and a prosthesis-finishing step (S500) of attaching a silicone film (200) with a leakage prevention film to the hole formed in the previous step to close the hole. The present invention provides said artificial breast prosthesis in which the variation of the thickness of the artificial breast shell is eliminated to minimize the concentration of stresses and to maximize the resistance against fatigue failure, wherein the artificial breast prosthesis is thin and has a pleasant feel.
TL;DR: In this article, a breast shell is designed as a milking collar, with at least one flexible part, with which a manual milking pressure which brings about a lactation can be applied to the nipple and the adjoining regions.
Abstract: The invention relates to a breast shell for the female breast, comprising a collecting container which collects the lactated milk and which is connected to the breast shell. The aim of the invention is to provide means with which a milking pressure can be brought about together with the stimulation of the nipple and the adjoining regions in order to effectively secrete the milk without requiring a strong vacuum and without the associated pains and problems for the woman, wherein the milk is completely collected in a hygienic manner at the same time. This is achieved by the arrangement in that a breast shell is designed as a milking collar so as to have at least one flexible part, with which the milking collar can be sealingly placed on the female breast, at least on the areola, and the breast shell is designed such that a manual milking pressure which brings about a lactation can be applied to the nipple and the adjoining regions.
