Abstract: We present an evaluation of the shells from sea snails of the families Olividae and Olivellidae deposited at the mollusk collection of the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biologicas, IPN, Mexico. Two hundred and five lots and 1173 specimens were analyzed. The family Olividae is represented by the genera Oliva Bruguiere, 1789 and Agaronia Gray, 1839, with 8 and 4 species, respectively; whereas the family Olivellidae is represented by Olivella Swainson, 1831 and Jaspidella Olsson, 1956, with 15 and 2 species, respectively. New records of Agaronia griseoalba (von Martens, 1897) from the Mexican Pacific are considered. A record of A. nica Lopez, Montoya y Lopez, 1988 suggests an extension of its geographical range.
