Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily connect a data processing unit and two standard networks with a simple constitution by selectively using two connection means each comprising an interface cable and a switching connector CONSTITUTION:A connection means 7 selects either a connection section 7A comprising an attachment unit interface(AUI) cable or a connection section 7B comprising a switching connector to connect a data processing unit 1 and a local area network(LAN) When the connection section 7A is selected, a serial interface section 3 is connected to a 10BASE5 transceiver 10 and to an Ethernet 12 On the other hand, when the connection section 7B is selected, the section 3 is connected to a 10BASE2 transceiver 4 and connected to a cheaper net 11 via a BNC connector 15 Thus, it is not required to prepare 2 kinds of medium access units(MAU) or an adaptor and the data processing unit and the 2 standard LANs are connected easily with simple constitution
