The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is the world's largest professional society serving clinicians and scientists who work on blood diseases. Founded in 1958 and headquartered in Washington DC, ASH publishes the Blood Journals portfolio: seven peer-reviewed journals anchored by Blood, the most-cited journal in hematology, plus Hematology, the annual ASH Education Program volume. • Blood Advances - semimonthly, online-only Gold OA journal launched in 2016; 2025 Impact Factor 7.7.
• Five specialty OA journals (2024-2025) - Blood Neoplasia, Blood VTH, Blood RCI, Blood ICT, and Blood Global Hematology, each focused on a hematology sub-field.
• Hematology (ASH Education Program) - the annual education volume tied to the ASH annual meeting; review-style articles rather than original research.
• ASH also produces The Hematologist newsletter and ASH Clinical News, which are not peer-reviewed research venues.

ASH runs a mixed model: Blood is subscription-based with a per-article OA option, and every other research journal in the portfolio is fully open access. Fees below are from the journals' current fee pages; ASH revises pricing periodically, so check the journal's publication-fees page before submitting.

Waivers: OA titles apply automatic Research4Life-based waivers or discounts when all authors are based in eligible countries. Green OA: self-archiving of the accepted manuscript is permitted per journal policy. Some institutions have agreements covering ASH titles through the Elsevier partnership - ask your library before paying an APC.

2. Read the author guide. Each journal's author center on ashpublications.org lists article types, length limits, and formatting rules.
3. Prepare your manuscript. ASH journals use numbered, Vancouver-style references; SciSpace templates handle the formatting automatically.
4. Submit online. Each journal has its own submission site (historically on the eJournalPress platform) linked from its author center; Blood charges a $75 submission fee for Regular Articles and Brief Reports.
5. Transfers. Papers declined by Blood can often be transferred with reviews to Blood Advances or a specialty Blood-family journal, saving a fresh round of review.

ASH Publications follows COPE guidance on publication ethics, corrections, and retractions, and participates in OASPA and STM good-practice frameworks.
