The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) is the definitive US professional society for immunology, founded on June 19, 1913. It owns and editorially controls two peer-reviewed journals: The Journal of Immunology (The JI), publishing continuously since February 1916, and ImmunoHorizons, a fully open-access journal launched in 2017. Since January 2025 both journals have been published in partnership with Oxford University Press (OUP) and are hosted on academic.oup.com, while AAI retains full ownership and control over peer review, editorial strategy, and editorial boards.

For immunologists, this is one of the most straightforward publisher decisions in the field: The JI for the society's flagship venue with a hybrid open-access option, ImmunoHorizons for a lower-cost, fully open-access route with the same society oversight. • The Journal of Immunology (The JI) - established 1916 as the official journal of AAI (initially jointly with the New York Society for Serology and Hematology). Publishes novel findings in all areas of experimental immunology, both basic and clinical, in 12 online issues per year. It is among the most-cited venues in immunology by total citations and is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed/MEDLINE.
• ImmunoHorizons - launched 2017 as AAI's fully open-access journal, covering the full breadth of immunology plus immunology education. Articles are published under CC BY licenses and indexed in PubMed Central and DOAJ.

AAI does not operate imprints or a book program; its publishing portfolio is these two journals.
