Abstract: The present paper was aimed at evaluate of using the Paleontological Park of Itaborai (PPI) – in the municipality of Itaborai (RJ) – as a non formal setting for teaching and learning of paleontology contents. Guided tours were elaborated, mediated and evaluated following a methodological path that is characterized as an action research. The instruments used were logbook type annotations and semi-structured interviews. The obtained results revealed that the adopted procedure was able to provide affective and cognitive gains to the participants.
