Resilience to Online Disinformation: A Framework for Cross-National Comparative Research:
TL;DR: Online disinformation is considered a major challenge for modern democracies as mentioned in this paper, and it is widely understood as misleading content produced to generate profits, pursue political goals, or maliciously deceive people.
National growth dynamics of wind and solar power compared to the growth required for global climate targets
Aleh Cherp,Aleh Cherp,Vadim Vinichenko,Jale Tosun,Joel A. Gordon,Joel A. Gordon,Jessica Jewell +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors fit growth models to wind and solar trajectories to identify countries in which growth has already stabilized after the initial acceleration, and showed that laggards may continue to struggle to achieve high growth rates despite learning from early adopters' experience.

Interpretation and identification of within-unit and cross-sectional variation in panel data models
Jonathan Kropko,Robert Kubinec +1 more
TL;DR: It is argued that these models’ real utility is in isolating a particular dimension of variance from panel data for analysis, and it is shown through novel mathematical decomposition and simulation that only one- way FE models cleanly capture either the over-time or cross-sectional dimensions in panel data, while the two-way FE model unhelpfully combines within-unit and cross-section variation in a way that produces un-interpretable answers.

The Ideological Shadow of Authoritarianism
TL;DR: In this paper, the labels left and right take on meaning in new democracies, and the authors point to the universality of the left-right scheme or, reversely, emphasize regionally dominant social cle...
Restraining the Huddled Masses: Migration Policy and Autocratic Survival
TL;DR: This article used a half-century of bilateral migration data to calculate the level and destinations of expected emigration given exogenous geographic and socioeconomic characteristics, and found that when citizens disproportionately emigrate to democracies, countries are more likely to democratize and that autocrats restrict emigration freedom in response.
