Abstract: The determination of the intersection curve between two surfaces may be seen as two different and sequential problems (1) determining initial points of the intersection curve and (2) tracing it from these points. Presented in this paper are: one technique for computing the initial point, and two methods for tracing the intersection curve of two parametric surfaces. Algorithms, implementation, and illustrative examples will be discussed as well as a comparative analysis of each method.

New methods for projecting a 3D object onto a free-form surface
TL;DR: The results show that the new method can solve the 3D objects projection problem in an effective manner and is more accurate and faster than Liu’s approach, particularly when the3D object has a large number of points.

New Numerical Solution for Two Parametric Surfaces Intersection Dragging Problem
TL;DR: In this article, a numerically accelerating method based on continuation technique was utilized first by calculating a starting point, and second by tracing sequential points along the intersection curve following Broyden's method.
Differential geometry properties by using the perturbation methods
TL;DR: In this article , a new method to evaluate the moving Frenet frame along the intersection curves of two parametric surfaces in the tangential intersection situations is presented, which combines a perturbation method with a classical method that works in transversal intersection situation, even if the order contact of the point is more than one.
Adaptive Slicing Method for Hermite Non-Planar Tessellated Surfaces Models
Yang Chen,Ruichao Lian,Shikai Jing,Jiangxin Fan +3 more
TL;DR: An adaptive slicing method for Hermite non-planar tessellated surfaces models improves the geometric accuracy of Rapid Prototyping (RP) by considering the bending characteristics of Hermite curved triangles and employing an adaptive layering method based on the normal vector at the vertexes of the Hermite curved triangles.

A dimensionality paradigm for surface interrogations
TL;DR: This work reformulates the problem in a higher-dimensional space with more variables but simpler equations, thus avoiding complex symbolic manipulation and numerically delicate operations and considers the formation of offsets, spherical blends of fixed or variable radius, and Voronoi surfaces.
