Abstract: The invention provides a traffic information file compression and decompression method and device. The traffic information file compression method comprises creating an empty compression file according to a preset compression cycle, compression range, and compressed file storage position when the file compression conditions are triggered, wherein a file name of the empty compression file conforms to set rules; obtaining a source traffic information file to be compressed and a directory structure of the source traffic information file and performing compression on the source traffic information file; outputting the compressed traffic information file and the directory structure to the created empty compression file and storing and receiving the output compression file. According to the traffic information file compression and decompression method and device, the automatic decompression of the traffic information file is achieved and accordingly the efficiency of the decompression of traffic information data is improved.
