A Review of Evidence on the Control of Shoot: Root Ratio, in Relation to Models
TL;DR: In this paper, four basic models for the control of shoot: root ratio (S: R): (a) allometric models, proposing a fixed ratio of shoot growth rate to root growth rate; (b) functional equilibrium models, based on the ratio of shooter activity to root activity; (c) the Thornley model based on carbon and nitrogen uptake and transport, and (d) hormone models, generally suggesting the root produces a hormone that controls the shoot and vice versa.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the results of studies on the recent developments in the utilization of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria for direct application in soils contaminated with heavy metals under a wide range of agro-ecological conditions with a view to restore contaminated soils and consequently, promote crop productivity in metal-polluted soils across the globe and their significance in phytoremediation.
