Abstract: In this paper, we analyze flexible models for capacitated discrete location problems with setup costs. We introduce a major extension with regards to standard models which consists of distinguishing three different points of view of a location problem in a logistics system. We develop mathematical programming formulations for these models using discrete ordered objective functions with some new features. We report on the computational behavior of these formulations tested on a randomly generated battery of instances.

Joint location and dispatching decisions for Emergency Medical Services
TL;DR: A mathematical formulation that combines an integer programming model representing location and dispatching decisions, with a hypercube model representing the queuing elements and congestion phenomena is developed, concluding that the joint approach can give insights of the implicit trade-offs between several conflicting optimization criteria.

TL;DR: The hazardous material routing problem from an origin to a destination in an urban area is addressed and the distance between the route and its closest vulnerable centre is maximised, weighted by the centre’s population.

Ordered median hub location problems with capacity constraints
TL;DR: In this paper, the capacitated version of the single allocation ordered median hub location problem is studied and a strengthening of one of these formulations is also studied through the use of some families of valid inequalities.
