Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subpixel estimation device and method for achieving highly precise subpixel estimation by selectively using the optimal subpixel estimation model for an obtained correlation value SOLUTION: A subpixel estimation device 1 is provided with: an image acquisition part 2 for acquiring and storing two or more images; a correlation value calculation part 3 for calculating a correlation value between the corresponding images among the images; a peak position specification part 4 for specifying a peak position where the correlation value calculated by the correlation value calculation part 3 becomes a peak, and for specifying the peak position and a correlation value in the periphery of the peak position; a matching degree evaluation part 6 for evaluating the matching degree of the peak position and the correlation value in the periphery of the peak position and the subpixel estimation model; and a subpixel estimation model selection part 7 for selecting a subpixel estimation model based on the matching degree COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
