Abstract: Cloud computing is basically to perform computation on a centralized facility provided by third party. It also provides storage facilities operated by the third party. Cloud computing allows us to hire entire platform for software development, hardware resources or setup a platform in house. Cloud computing offers everything as-a-service. It provides infrastructure as-a-service, platform as-a-service, software as-aservice and human as-a-service. This paper gives an introduction to what the cloud computing is, services it provide, how it is deployed, with its features and challenges. This paper focus on database management in cloud computing. It also analyses cloud DBMS characteristics, challenges and also compare various types of cloud databases.
