Abstract: An attempt is described to use special techniques to introduce information systems into learner-controlled instruction on a broader basis than encountered today. To do this, “information networks” are defined to add to the information stored in the data base some kind of semantic understanding of the logical structures involved. This approach differs from others, in that the student (or user) works himself with the information network, while other approaches try to guide the learning process via conversational programs which are generated according to a given network.

What, where and whence: means for improving electronic data access.
TL;DR: An experimental set-up which aims at avoiding that drawback by making the selection procedure less sequential, by visualizing the retrieval structure and by recording the successive choices made for possible later consultation by the user.

A General Application Guidance System for the Problem Solver
TL;DR: In this article, the problem solver who is not necessarily a DP-procedural professional has to make extensive use of DP-facilities, and the user of program libraries has to be assisted in identifying the suitable program for a given problem.
