Abstract: A solid state imaging device (1) is provided with: a photoelectric conversion unit (2) having a plurality of photosensitive regions (7); and a potential gradient formation unit (3) having a conductive member (8) disposed facing the plurality of photosensitive regions (7). In planar view, each photosensitive region (7) has a roughly rectangular shape formed from two long sides and two short sides. The photosensitive regions (7) are arranged in parallel in a first direction which intersects with the long side. The potential gradient formation unit (3) forms a potential gradient in which the potential becomes higher along a second direction from one of the short sides to the other short side of the photosensitive regions (7). The conductive member (8) contains a first region (8a) extending in the second direction between the two ends of the second direction and having a first electrical resistivity, and a second region (8b) extending in the second direction between the two ends and having a second electrical resistivity that is smaller than the first electrical resistivity.
