Abstract: Communication elements for secure data communication between remote nodes of a computer system on a standard communications medium (12). Terminals (21), workstations and personal computers are connected through a user-side terminator to a standard unsecured communications medium (12). Processors (42) are connected through a computer-side terminator (41) to the same medium (12). The combination of a user-side terminator (21), a computer-side terminator (41) and a standard communications medium (12) constitutes a secure computer interface.

System and method for secure three-party communications
David P. Felsher,Robert H. Nagel,Steven M. Hoffberg +2 more
- 25 Mar 2002
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a system and method for communicating information between a first party and a second party, comprising the steps of receiving, by an intermediary, an identifier of desired information and accounting information for a transaction involving the information from the first party, and negotiating, by the intermediary, a comprehension function for obscuring at least a portion of the information communicated between the first parties and the second parties.

Multifactorial optimization system and method
Steven M. Hoffberg
- 03 Oct 2006
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method for providing unequal allocation of rights among agents while operating according to fair principles, comprising assigning a hierarchal rank to each agent, providing a synthetic economic value to a first set of agents at the a high level of the hierarchy, allocating portions of the synthetic economy value by the first sets of agents to a second subset of agents, at respectively different hierarchal ranks than the first set, and conducting an auction amongst agents using the synthetic economic values as the currency.

Transaction execution system with secure data storage and communications
Thomas George Anderson,William Arnold Boothroyd,Richard Carl Frey +2 more
- 25 Jun 1974
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a scheme to prevent the entry of non-encrypted ID numbers at a terminal while storing only encrypted ID number at the host, requiring the correspondence between credit card account information and ID numbers need be known only to a few key personnel having access to both the encryption algorithm and a particular key therefor.

Method and apparatus for personal verification utilizing nonpredictable codes and biocharacteristics
Kenneth P. Weiss
- 18 Jan 1989
TL;DR: In this paper, a personal verification system for multi-character, non-predictable code is described. Butler et al. present a verification system consisting of a user device which is adapted to generate a time varying, multichannel, nonpredictability code; a verification device; and a mechanism for permitting the user to communicate the non-predictive code generated by the user device at a given time to the verification device in a manner such that a biocharacteristic of the user is communicated with each code character.
