Abstract: In scanning photographs, receipts or other small objects users will often scan many at a time. It would be convenient to automatically detect that the scanned image consists of many small objects rather than a single large one, and segment appropriately. We present a simple, efficient and robust way of doing this.

Method And Apparatus For Detecting Objects In An Image
Michael Guerzhoy,Hui Zhou +1 more
- 08 Nov 2007
TL;DR: In this paper, a method of detecting generally rectangular objects in an image comprises determining candidate rectangles in the image based on detected corners in image, ranking the candidate rectangle on the basis of a set of differentiating factors and detecting objects in the images based on the ranked candidate Rectangles.

Apparatuses, methods and systems for a publishing and subscribing platform of depositing negotiable instruments
Bharat Prasad,Rickey Dale Burks,Minya Liang +2 more
- 19 Aug 2010
TL;DR: The PS-PLATFORM as discussed by the authors provides a negotiable instrument data publish-and-subscribe framework, whereby financial institutions may exchange negoteiable instrument deposit data and/or validation information within the publish and subscribe framework, and register a financial institution as a subscriber and provide financial transaction information to the financial institution based on the subscription.

An MRF model-based approach to the detection of rectangular shape objects in color images
TL;DR: This paper proposed a hierarchical approach, which combines a global contour-based line segment detection algorithm and an Markov random field model, to extract rectangular shape objects from real color images to show that this method is robust in locating multiple rectangular shape Objects simultaneously with respect to different size, orientation and color.

Apparatuses, methods and systems for remote deposit capture with enhanced image detection
Reynaldo Medina,Bharat Prasad +1 more
- 30 Dec 2010
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a platform for remote deposit by submitting captured images of a check via a user device, wherein the RDC-Detection transforms captured check images and/or entered check deposit information inputs via RDCdetection components into deposit confirmation outputs.
