Abstract: TWO OPTICAL PROCESSING SYSTEMS FOR RAPID CONTOUR GENERATION FROM VERTICAL TRANSPARENCIES INCLUDE: THE POSITIVE-NEGATIVE SYSTEM THAT USES TRANSPARENCIES PROCESSED TO PLUS AND MINUS VALUES OF GAMMA, AND PRODUCES DARK CONTOURS ON A STRUCTURE FILLED BACK-GROUND; AND THE SCATTER-PLATE SYSTEM IN WHICH MATCHING IMAGERY PRODUCES BRIGHT CONTOUR BANDS ON A DARK FIELD. FOR A GIVEN X-PARALLAX SETTING ALL CONTOURS ARE DISPLAYED SIMULTANEOUSLY. EXPERIMENTAL WORK TREATS CLOSE-RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRIC EXAMPLES. MATHEMATICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS PROVIDE A DETERMINATION OF THE HEIGHT DISCRIMINATION.

Method and an apparatus for stereoscopic measurement utilizing a three-dimensional image
Kano Tsutomu
- 19 Oct 1976
TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for stereoscopic measurement of an actual value of depth in a subject through its three-dimensional image obtained from two stereoscopically photographed films by utilizing three factors, that is, the center of optical axis of an X-ray tube or a camera which is indexed from the films at the time of stereoscopic photography, distance of movement from the first photographic point to the second photographic point and distance from the X-Ray tube or the lens to the film.

Contour Visualization Using Coherent Optical Systems
Alan Wertheimer,M. Parker Givens +1 more
- 01 Oct 1974
TL;DR: Wertheimer and Givens as discussed by the authors discussed two optical process-ing systems for the rapid extraction of con-tours from a pair of stereo transparencies, where the stereo images of all points at a given elevation have the same value of x-parallax.
