Radionic nonuniform stable black strings
TL;DR: In this paper, non-uniform black strings in the two-brane system were investigated using the effective action approach, where the radion acts as a non-trivial hair of black strings.

Abstract: Non-uniform black strings in the two-brane system are investigated using the effective action approach. It is shown that the radion acts as a non-trivial hair of black strings. The stability of solutions is demonstrated using the catastrophe theory. The black strings are shown to be non-uniform.

Remarks on partition functions of topological string theory on generalized conifolds
TL;DR: In this article, the method of topological vertex for topological string theory on toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds is reviewed and the implications of an explicit formula of partition functions in the on-strip case, typically the generalized conifolds, are considered.
q-Difference Kac-Schwarz Operators in Topological String Theory
Kanehisa Takasaki,Toshio Nakatsu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the perspective of Kac-Schwarz operators is introduced to the authors' previous work on the quantum mirror curves of topological string theory in strip geometry and closed topological vertex.
Caged black holes: Black holes in compactified spacetimes. I. Theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the scalar charge and tension along the compact dimension are defined and used as improved order parameters which put both the black hole and the black string at finite values on the phase diagram.
Generalized Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy in topological string theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the generalized Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy is identified as a fundamental integrable structure of topological string theory on generalized conifolds, and the associated Lax operators turn out to have a particular factorized form.

An Alternative to compactification

Stability of non-Abelian black holes and catastrophe theory.
TL;DR: In this paper, a catastrophe-theoretic analysis of the potential function defined by black hole entropy is presented, where two types of self-gravitating particle solutions found in several theories with nonAbelian fields are smoothly connected by a family of non-trivial black holes.

Radion and holographic brane gravity
Sugumi Kanno,Jiro Soda +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a low energy effective theory for the Randall-Sundrum two brane system is investigated with an emphasis on the role of the non-linear radion in the brane world.
