1. What was the initial idea behind the research project and how did it evolve?
The initial idea behind the research project was formed in 2013 when the researcher was completing postgraduate studies at Maastricht University. The idea emerged as a simple thought about exploring the protection of rights for unaccompanied minors in Greece, particularly due to the high numbers of migrant populations entering the country irregularly. Over time, the idea evolved into a socio-legal concept, a structured research proposal, and eventually into a doctoral candidacy. The journey involved literature reviews, interview transcripts, methodological approaches, and in-depth analyses of regulations, all while balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Despite challenges, the researcher believes in the importance of the project and its potential to shed light on under-researched areas in the migration context in Greece.
