Abstract: Performance prediction of diamond wire saws is important in the cost estimation and the planning of the stone quarries An accurate estimation of sawability helps to make the planning of the rock cutting projects more efficient In this paper, the performance prediction of diamond wire saws in cutting carbonate rocks was studied on 14 different carbonate rocks in stone quarries located in Iran Rock samples were collected from the quarries for laboratory tests Uniaxial compressive strength, Brazilian tensile strength, Schmidt hammer value, and Los Angeles abrasion were determined in the laboratory Performance prediction was evaluated using simple and multiple regression analyses Finally, a new model was proposed for predicting the production rate of diamond wire saw It was concluded that the production rate of carbonate rock using diamond wire saw can reliably be estimated using the developed model

Performance Evaluation of Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and Group Method of Data Handling-Type Neural Network for Estimating Wear Rate of Diamond Wire Saw
TL;DR: In this research, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is applied to estimate the wear rate of diamond wire saw under uncertain processes; hence, indirect prediction in ANFIS is carried out using subtractive clustering method (SCM) and fuzzy c-means clustering methods based on four effective rock properties.

Fuzzy analytical hierarchy process approach for ranking the sawability of carbonate rock
TL;DR: In this article, a new classification system is presented to evaluate and ranking the sawability of carbonate rock. And a new abrasivity index is obtained from this abrasivity classification system, which is applied for Iranian carbonate rocks to evaluate the energy consumption in rock sawing process.

Recycling of abrasives in abrasive water jet cutting with different types of granite
TL;DR: In this paper, significant rock properties affecting the recycling of abrasives in AWJ cutting of granites are investigated, and it is concluded that theAMP106μm can be explained with high accuracy by the proposed model including the microhardness, the quartz content, and the plagioclase content.

Application of metaheuristic algorithms to optimal clustering of sawing machine vibration
TL;DR: Although it has been found that there is no significant difference between the two algorithms, genetic algorithm modeling is more reliable than differential evolution based on the cost function and can be used by engineers to optimize the ornamental stone sawing process.
