Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine women's leisure time physical activity (LTPA) before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and through the first 7 months postnatal. Pre- and postnatal women (n = 309) completed the 12-month Modifiable Activity Questionnaire and demographic information. Multilevel modeling was used to estimate a growth curve representing the average change in LTPA over time and intraindividual variations in the average growth curve over time. Growth curve estimates for the linear, quadratic, and cubic trends were significant (p < .05), indicating that LTPA declined during pregnancy but then increased following birth. The results also demonstrated that the individual trajectories of LTPA varied substantially from the average growth curve. One demographic predictor variable (having other children at home) was significant (p < .05).

A prospective examination of exercise and barrier self-efficacy to engage in leisure-time physical activity during pregnancy.
TL;DR: Higher levels of self-efficacy to exercise and to overcome exercise barriers are associated with greater LTPA during pregnancy, and research and interventions should explore the dynamic nature of exercise barriers and foster women's confidence to overcome physical activity barriers.

Aerobic exercise during pregnancy influences fetal cardiac autonomic control of heart rate and heart rate variability
TL;DR: It is indicated that regular maternal exercise throughout gestation results in significantly lower fetal HR and increased HRV compared to fetuses of non-exercising women.

The impact of life events and transitions on physical activity: A scoping review
TL;DR: This study indicates that, despite some emerging trends, similar events do not necessarily have similar impacts on PA across individuals and shows that the research landscape is characterized by a lack of conceptual clarity and by disparate methodologies, making it difficult to synthesize results across studies.
Application of objective physical activity measurement in an antenatal physical activity consultation intervention: a randomised controlled trial
TL;DR: The findings indicate that PA consultations were not effective in reducing the decline of MVPA in throughout pregnancy, however, women who were less active in trimester one and received PA consultations had a lesser decrease in MVPA.
Physical Activity During Pregnancy: Predictors of Change, Perceived Support and Barriers Among Women at Increased Risk of Gestational Diabetes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the predictors of change in intensity-specific leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) during pregnancy, and the perceived support and barriers of LTPA in Finnish pregnant women at increased risk of gestational diabetes.

Health Promotion by Social Cognitive Means
TL;DR: This article examines health promotion and disease prevention from the perspective of social cognitive theory, a multifaceted causal structure in which self-efficacy beliefs operate together with goals, outcome expectations, and perceived environmental impediments and facilitators in the regulation of human motivation, behavior, and well-being.
