Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer having excellent compatibility, adhesivity and printability and useful for ink, etc., by modifying a polymer composed of a specific α-olefin, etc., having unsaturated bond at the terminal and having a specific triad fraction [mm] determined by 13 C-NMR. CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated polymer having an olefinic unsaturated bond at one terminal and having a triad fraction [mm] of ≥0.5 measured by 13 C-NMR is produced by polymerizing a 3-20C α-olefin (e.g. propylene) at 40°C for 4hr using a catalyst composed of ethylenebis(indenyl)zirconium dichloride and methyl alumoxane, etc. The unsaturated polymer is dissolved in a solvent (e.g. xylene), heated at 100°C under stirring, added with a mixture of formic acid and 30wt.% hydrogen peroxide solution, reacted for 2hr, neutralized with alcoholic NaOH and poured into a large amount of acetone to precipitate the objective hydroxyl- containing polymer modified with hydroxyl group introduced to the terminal olefinic unsaturated bond.
