Phospholipase A2-induced rat mast cell secretion. Role of arachidonic acid metabolites.
42
TL;DR: It is indicated that phospholipase A2 can induce mast cell degranulation and evidence that is compatible with, but not proof of, mediation of this process by a lipoxygenase product of arachidonic acid metabolism is provided.

Agents that release histamine from mast cells.
D Lagunoff,T W Martin,G Read +2 more
TL;DR: This review focuses in this review on agents of more or less known structure capable of releasing histamine, and attempts to collect information on a range of agents and to evaluate succinctly the available information on their modes of action.

Translocation of the 85-kDa Phospholipase A2 from Cytosol to the Nuclear Envelope in Rat Basophilic Leukemia Cells Stimulated with Calcium Ionophore or IgE/Antigen
TL;DR: The results suggest that the extent of membrane binding of cPLA2 correlates with the release of arachidonate and that the site of archidonate liberation is the nuclear envelope where many of the enzymes that oxygenate this fatty acid are located.

20-Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid mediates calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II-induced mitogen-activated protein kinase activation in vascular smooth muscle cells.
M. M. Muthalif,Ibrahim F. Benter,Nour A. Karzoun,Soghra Fatima,Jason L. Harper,Mohammed R. Uddin,Kafait U. Malik +6 more
TL;DR: Data suggest that activation of MAPK by NE, Ang II, and EGF is mediated by a signaling mechanism involving 20-HETE, which is generated by stimulation of cPLA2 by CaMKII, which may play a central role in the regulation of other cellular signaling molecules involved in cell proliferation and growth.

Ultrastructural characterization and morphometric analysis of human eosinophil degranulation.
W.R. Henderson,E.Y. Chi +1 more
TL;DR: Human eosinophil degranulation induced by the calcium ionophore A23187 was examined by transmission and scanning electron microscopy, and morphometric analysis, suggesting the possibility that exocytosis of mature granules is accompanied by new cytoplasmic granule formation.
