- 01 Jan 2018
TL;DR: Adoption of culturomics in agriculture microbiology research will definitely increase the number of microbial strains, which will ultimately increase the load of mBRCs maintaining these cultures, and this chapter discussed various aspects of agriculturally important microbes and their documentation and preservation at m BRCs.

Development of native Pseudomonas aeruginosa bioformulations with plant growth promoting potential for apple crop in Himachal Pradesh
Ranjna Sharma,S C Sharma +1 more
Abstract: Abstract This study was conducted to characterize different plant growth promoting Pseudomonas strains isolated from wet temperate zones of Himachal Pradesh and two best effective plant growth promoting P. aeruginosa strains An-14-Mg and An-15-Mg were tested under field conditions to evaluate their growth promotional effect on apple crop. Maximum production of all the plant growth promoting traits were shown by two Pseudomonas isolate An-14-Mg and An-15-Mg. Maximum phosphate solubilization was shown by An-15-Mg (46 mm) whereas highest siderophore units (SU) were recorded in An-14-Mg (71.23%SU) followed by An-15-Mg (70.12%SU) which were statistically at par with each other. Highest IAA production (95 µg/ml), HCN (++++) and ammonia (++++) production was observed again in Pseudomonas isolate An-15-Mg. Both the strains exhibited 99% level of similarity with P. aeruginosa. The presence of An-14-Mg, An-15-Mg alone and consortium were tested under field conditions to study their effect on percent survival of apple rootstocks, plant height and number of shoots up to 3 years period. Maximum increase in percent survival, plant height, number of shoots, chlorophyll content and available NPK content of soil were observed in consortial bioformulation after 3 years growth observed in apple plants. Both the P. aeruginosa strains were reported first time as plant growth promoter with apple tree, therefore can be used as biofertilizer in apple crop of Himachal Pradesh.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the agronomic efficiency of 12 new phosphates obtained from partial acidulation (25 and 50% of total acidulation) of rocks phosphates (RPs) from Araxá (RPA), Bayóvar (RPB) and Morocco (RPM) containing pillarized clays or zeolites in their formulation, by means of evaluating the diffusion, solubilization and corn cultivation.
Dynamics of soil phosphorus under different management practices for groundnut cultivation in calcareous Vertisols
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of soil phosphorus under different management practices for groundnut cultivation in calcareous Vertisols were analyzed. But the results were limited to groundnut only.

DNA polymorphisms amplified by arbitrary primers are useful as genetic markers
TL;DR: A new DNA polymorphism assay based on the amplification of random DNA segments with single primers of arbitrary nucleotide sequence is described, suggesting that these polymorphisms be called RAPD markers, after Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA.
MEGA2 : Molecular evolutionary genetics analysis software
TL;DR: MEGA2 vastly extends the capabilities of MEGA version 1 by facilitating analyses of large datasets, enabling creation and analyses of groups of sequences, and expanding the repertoire of statistical methods for molecular evolutionary studies.
Phosphate solubilizing bacteria and their role in plant growth promotion
Hilda Rodríguez,Reynaldo Fraga +1 more
TL;DR: Genetic manipulation of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria to improve their ability to improve plant growth may include cloning genes involved in both mineral and organic phosphate solubilization, followed by their expression in selected rhizobacterial strains.
