Generalized Mathematical Model for SO2 Reduction in an Oil Refinery Based on Arabian Light Crude Oil
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an optimization model to select the least cost control technology for a given reduction target in an oil refinery, based on the Arabian light crude oil as the feedstock to the distillation column.

General Equilibrium Impacts of New Energy Technologies on Sectoral Energy Usage
David J. Ramberg
- 01 Jan 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined conditions under which gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology penetration shifts the crude oil-natural gas price ratio and found that if a viable GTL technology successfully competes against petroleum-derived refined fuels, it dampens crude oil price increases and brings the oil-gas price ratio below the levels found in cases without a viable GTL technology.
A mixed integer nonlinear programming approach for petroleum refinery topology optimisation
TL;DR: This work develops a superstructure to include many possible prospective configurations and formulate rigorous models for the 32 commercial refinery processes that constitute the configurations, which gives rise to a convex MINLP model.
