Pathology and differential diagnosis of chronic, noninfectious gastritis
25
TL;DR: The histologic finding of chronic inflammation in an endoscopic mucosal biopsy of the stomach (chronic gastritis) is very common and usually reflects the presence of Helicobacter pylori infection, however, infectious organisms are not always present in biopsy material, and some cases of chronic gastritis do not result from H. pylora infection.

Microbes and Viruses Are Bugging the Gut in Celiac Disease. Are They Friends or Foes
TL;DR: A deeper inquiry into the CD interplay with Herpes viruses and Helicobacter pylori demonstrates that the role of these infections, suggested to be potential CD protectors, is not as controversial as for the other infectious agents.
Sensing Bacterial-Induced DNA Damaging Effects via Natural Killer Group 2 Member D Immune Receptor: From Dysbiosis to Autoimmunity and Carcinogenesis.
J. Luis Espinoza,Mika Minami +1 more
TL;DR: Recent evidence that appears to link an altered human microbiota with autoimmunity and carcinogenesis via the activation of DDR signals and the induction of NKG2D-Ls in stressed cells is discussed.
The differential diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori negative gastritis
TL;DR: The first step is to exclude a false negative result of the search for HP, by ensuring that both antral and oxyntic mucosa are present, and identification of marked reactive changes, such as intestinal, pseudo-pyloric, pancreatic metaplasia that may suggest a diagnosis of (HP associated or autoimmune) atrophic gastritis.

TL;DR: H. pylori-mediated autoimmunity is involved in the pathogenesis of chronic atrophic gastritis and the grade of antigenic mimicry of the infecting H. plyori strain plays a role in the progression of chronic gastritis to atrophy.
