The deep Earth oxygen cycle: Mass balance considerations on the origin and evolution of mantle and surface oxidative reservoirs
TL;DR: The deep Earth oxygen cycle involves a 82% mantle and 18% exosphere redox power distribution, with vigorous outfluxes replenishing the exosphere in 1.1 Ga, requiring efficient subduction recycling and influencing Earth's geochemical evolution.

Experimental Approaches for Testing the Hypothesis of the Emergence of Life at Submarine Alkaline Vents.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the key concepts that provide a background for the alkaline hydrothermal vents model and then analyze the experimental approaches that were motivated by it, and present several experimental works from the AHV model using several tools.

The synthesis of organic molecules in a laser plasma similar to the plasma that emerges in hypervelocity collisions of matter at the early evolutionary stage of the Earth and in interstellar clouds
TL;DR: In this paper, a hypervelocity impact of micrometeorites moving at velocities of 80 km s−1 on a inorganic target was simulated with a Q-switched laser, which provided a power density of 109−1011 W cm−2 in a spot with an impact diameter of 30−150 μm for a pulse duration of 7−10 ns and a laser plasma electron density of 105−106 K.

Prebiological membranes: synthesis and properties.
C. E. Folsome,H. J. Morowitz +1 more
- 01 Mar 1969
TL;DR: Ultraviolet irradiation of alkanes on aqueous solutions of phosphate and magnesium yields complex structured products which bear many properties similar to simple membranes.

Purinergic and Adenosinergic Signaling in Pancreatobiliary Diseases
TL;DR: Signals from purinergic and adenosinergic signaling can impact the growth and invasive properties of cancer cells, potentiate anti-tumor immunity, and also block angiogenesis, according to a review of available literature.

A Production of Amino Acids Under Possible Primitive Earth Conditions
TL;DR: In this study, an apparatus was built to circulate CHI4, NH3, H2O, and H2 past an electric discharge, and the resulting mixture has been tested for amino acids by paper chromatography.
On the Evolution of Biochemical Syntheses
TL;DR: Evidence on the postulated gene-enzyme relationship is in most cases, however, still circumstantial; this is partly Because of technical difficulties involved in the study of synthetic, or free-energy consuming reactions in vitro, and partly because of the insufficiency of biochemical information on those reactions which happen to be susceptible of genetic analysis.
