Optimizing long-term investments for a sustainable development of the ASEAN power system
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined cost-optimal pathways towards a sustainable power system in the ASEAN region by employing linear optimization, which simultaneously optimizes the required capacities and the hourly operation of generation, transmission, and storage.

Status and perspectives on 100% renewable energy systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that research in the design of 100% renewable energy systems in scientific articles is fairly new but has gained increasing attention in recent years, and there is a need for applying a cross-sectoral holistic approach as well as coordinating individual country studies with the global context.

A review at the role of storage in energy systems with a focus on Power to Gas and long-term storage
Herib Blanco,André Faaij +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of more than 60 studies (plus m4ore than 65 studies on P2G) on power and energy models based on simulation and optimization was done, based on these, for power systems with up to 95% renewables, the electricity storage size is found to be below 1.5% of the annual demand (in energy terms).
Response to 'Burden of proof': A comprehensive review of the feasibility of 100% renewable-electricity systems'
Tom Brown,Tom Brown,Tobias Bischof-Niemz,Kornelis Blok,Christian Breyer,Henrik Lund,Brian Vad Mathiesen +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors of the article "Burden of proof: a comprehensive review of the feasibility of 100% renewable-electricity systems" claim that many studies of 100 % renewable electricity systems do not demonstrate sufficient technical feasibility, according to the criteria of the authors (henceforth "the authors").
North-East Asian Super Grid for 100% renewable energy supply: Optimal mix of energy technologies for electricity, gas and heat supply options
TL;DR: In this article, an hourly resolved model has been created based on linear optimization of energy system parameters under given constrains, which is comprised of five scenarios for 100% renewable energy power systems in North-East Asia with different high voltage direct current transmission grid development levels, including industrial gas demand and additional energy security.

Assessment of renewables for energy security and carbon mitigation in Southeast Asia: The case of Indonesia and Thailand
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the LEAP energy model to develop different renewable energy policy scenarios from base year 2010 to 2050, and the results of the simulation show that a large proportion of electricity must be produced by renewables by 2050 if full potential of renewables is to be exploited.

On the temperature dependence of the load curve of the city of zurich
Valerian Klemenz,Jürg Bader,Hansruedi Luternauer +2 more
- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, the correlation between electricity consumption in the City of Zurich and outside temperature is investigated. And the authors show that periods of high temperatures will become more frequent in the future and a trend to rising energy consumption in summer can be observed.
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
TL;DR: The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is no longer "talk only", but is an institutionalized forum of 18 sovereign nation-state based economies as discussed by the authors. But what is APEC? This symposium, based on my recorded conversations with Dr. Noordin Sopiee, during August-December 1994, may provide a useful answer.
