Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle device improved in safety, by improving the attention of a passenger other than a driver to a driving status, in particular, by calling the attention of the driving state, even during viewing of an entertainment such as DVD or music, and to provide an information output method. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle device 103 includes a communication means 202; a means 200 which detects the position and circumferential state of a vehicle; an information acquisition part which acquires drive assist information from the communication means 202 and the vehicle state detection means 200; and a means 204, which controls output of video and music information to an output device 104. The device further includes a means 201, which holds messages corresponding to information types of drive assist information for each type of the output device 104, and the device reads and outputs, based on the drive assist information, a message corresponding to the information type thereof. The device, further, includes a means 205 which performs, for each type of the output device 104, determination of the propriety of output of information, based on the information type of the drive assist information, and the device performs, for each output device 104, either outputting or non-outputting of message, according to the information type of drive assist information.
