Abstract: Implementation research studies focus on outcomes that are “upstream” of clinical or public health outcomes such as reach, fidelity, quality and sustained use. In order to achieve successful health outcomes, practices and programs need to be implemented well, and implementation research focuses on developing an evidence base on the information, interventions, practices and policies that facilitate implementation.

Assessing the organizational context for EBP implementation: the development and validity testing of the Implementation Climate Scale (ICS).
TL;DR: The Implementation Climate Scale (ICS) is a very brief (18 item) and pragmatic measure of a strategic climate for EBP implementation that captures six dimensions of the organizational context that indicate to employees the extent to which their organization prioritizes and values the successful implementation of EBPs.
Are multifaceted interventions more effective than single-component interventions in changing health-care professionals’ behaviours? An overview of systematic reviews
Janet E. Squires,Janet E. Squires,Katrina J. Sullivan,Martin P Eccles,Julia Worswick,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Jeremy M. Grimshaw +6 more
TL;DR: This overview of systematic reviews offers no compelling evidence that multifaceted interventions are more effective than single-component interventions.
The use of segmented regression in analysing interrupted time series studies : an example in pre-hospital ambulance care
Monica Taljaard,Monica Taljaard,Joanne E. McKenzie,Craig R Ramsay,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Jeremy M. Grimshaw +5 more
TL;DR: Based on the estimated change in intercept and slope from pre- to post-intervention using segmented regression, there is insufficient evidence of a statistically significant effect on quality of care for stroke, although potential clinically important effects for AMI cannot be ruled out.
Identifying determinants of care for tailoring implementation in chronic diseases: an evaluation of different methods

TL;DR: Systematic methods can lead to the identification of large numbers of determinants, and brainstorming is a simple, low cost method that could be relevant to many tailored implementation projects.
Rethinking capacity building for knowledge mobilisation: developing multilevel capabilities in healthcare organisations
TL;DR: This conceptual paper uses empirical and theoretical literature on organisational learning and dynamic capabilities to enhance the understanding of intentional capacity building for knowledge mobilisation in healthcare organisations.

TL;DR: A heuristic, working “taxonomy” of eight conceptually distinct implementation outcomes—acceptability, adoption, appropriateness, feasibility, fidelity, implementation cost, penetration, and sustainability—along with their nominal definitions is proposed.

TL;DR: The authors call for applied research to better understand service delivery processes and contextual factors to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of program implementation at local state and national levels.

The Quality Implementation Framework: A Synthesis of Critical Steps in the Implementation Process
TL;DR: Applying the collective guidance synthesized by the QIF to the Interactive Systems Framework for Dissemination and Implementation (ISF) emphasizes that accountability for quality implementation does not rest with the practitioner Delivery System alone.

Leadership and organizational change for implementation (LOCI): a randomized mixed method pilot study of a leadership and organization development intervention for evidence-based practice implementation.
TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that LOCI may be a viable strategy to support organizations in preparing for the implementation and sustainment of EBP.
