TL;DR: Normative MRI data are presented that can be used for comparing individual patients and for further study of right and left ventricular interaction and agreement with published autopsy series was excellent.

Abstract: Our objective was to establish normal ranges of left and right ventricular mass and function with cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to determine gender differences. Seventy-five healthy subjects (age range 8-55, mean 28 yr) were studied with cine MRI. Ten dogs were imaged for autopsy validation with a mean difference between actual and MRI-determined mass of 0.2 A +/- 8.4 g. Intraobserver and interobserver variability and interstudy variability were 5-6%. All parameters were significantly different between males and females except ejection fraction and the left ventricular mass to end-diastolic volume ratio. Agreement with published autopsy series, including gender differences, was excellent. This study presents normative MRI data that can be used for comparing individual patients and for further study of right and left ventricular interaction.

Assessment of global left ventricular functional parameters : analysis of every second short-axis magnetic resonance imaging slices is as accurate as analysis of consecutive slices
Daniel D. Lubbers,Tineke P. Willems,Pieter A. van der Vleuten,Jelle Overbosch,Marco J.W. Götte,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Matthijs Oudkerk +6 more
TL;DR: Whether accurate global left-ventricular (LV) functional parameters can be obtained by analyzing every second short-axis magnetic resonance imaging cine series instead of consecutive slices is assessed in order to reduce post-processing time.

Hyperuricemia and Its Correlation with Target Organ Damage and Electrocardiographic Changes in Newly Diagnosed Adult Nigerian Hypertensive Patients
Abidemi Fasae,Olusegun Adesola Busari,Rotimi Oluyombo,Musa Yusuf,Oladipo George Opadijo,Ayodele Babatunde Omotoso +5 more
TL;DR: The study showed that Hyperuricemia is prevalent in adult Nigerians with newly diagnosed hypertension and was associated with left ventricular hypertrophy which is common target organ damage and confers an increased risk of cardiovascular events in systemic hypertension.

Sequential functional analysis of left ventricle from 2D-echocardiography images.
Rani Chacko,Megha Singh +1 more
TL;DR: The sequential changes in shape of left ventricle (LV) in its long axis view during one cardiac cycle are obtained by processing of images obtained from a normal subject and two patients with dilated left ventricular cardio-myopathy by a semi-automatic algorithm developed by MATLAB.

Automatic exclusion of papillary muscles and trabeculae from blood volume measurements in cine cardiac magnetic resonance images
Gilion Hautvast,Marcel Breeuwer,Steven Lobregt,Frans A. Gerritsen +3 more
- 01 Dec 2006
TL;DR: Three methods that automatically exclude the papillary muscles and trabeculae from the blood volume are developed and evaluated by classifying the interior grey values of the endocardial contours to estimate corrected areas for summation with Simpson's Rule.

Statistical methods for assessing agreement between two methods of clinical measurement
TL;DR: In this article, an alternative approach, based on graphical techniques and simple calculations, is described, together with the relation between this analysis and the assessment of repeatability, which is often used in clinical comparison of a new measurement technique with an established one.

Detection of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy by M-Mode Echocardiography Anatomic Validation, Standardization, and Comparison to Other Methods
TL;DR: The accuracy of M-mode echocardiography for measurement of left ventricular mass is similar to that of contrast angiography but may be exceeded by newer methods with greater cost or radiation exposure, including magnetic resonance imaging, cine-computed tomography, and three-dimensional e chocardiographic reconstruction.

TL;DR: Good agreement was found between scintigraphic and angiographic determinations ofleft ventricular end-systolic and end-diastolic volumes, and radionuclide techniques, which are independent of geometric assumptions, may be utilized for the quantitation of left ventricular volumes.
