139
TL;DR: This case is the first in which the neuropathologic changes associated with cisplatin therapy have been demonstrated by postmortem examination, and is believed to be the first of its kind.

Abstract: • Swelling of the optic disc and loss of tendon reflexes developed in a 31/2-yearold girl after 11 high-dose courses of cisplatin ( cis -dichlorodiammine platinum [II]) therapy for recurrent sacrococcygeal teratoma. Postmortem examination demonstrated optic disc swelling; the spinal cord showed loss of myelinated fibers and gliosis of the dorsal columns. To our knowledge this case is the first in which the neuropathologic changes associated with cisplatin therapy have been demonstrated by postmortem examination.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.
TL;DR: A general predisposition for developing a chemotherapy-induced neuropathy has been observed in nerves previously damaged by diabetes mellitus, alcohol or inherited neuropathy and no drug is available to reliably prevent or cure chemotherapy- induced neuropathy.

TL;DR: Ten of 11 patients with ovarian cancer receiving cisplatin developed a distal sensory neuropathy, manifested early by decreased vibratory sensibility in toes and depressed ankle jerks and later by uncomfortable paresthesias, which may explain the cisPlatin toxicity of peripheral nerves with relative sparing of the central nervous system.

TL;DR: A double‐blind pilot study of 8 patients with established cerebral infarction to evaluate the effect of a single dose of amphetamine on recovery of motor function using the Fugl‐Meyer scale results may allow the development of a pharmacological approach to stroke rehabilitation.

Cancer-treatment-induced neurotoxicity—focus on newer treatments
TL;DR: Familiarity with the neurological syndromes associated with cancer treatments enables clinicians to use the appropriate treatment for the underlying malignancy while minimizing the risk of neurological damage, which might preserve patients' quality of life.

TL;DR: The rhNGF completely prevented alternation in the number and size of NGF receptor—and choline acetyltransferase—immunnoreactive neurons in the medical septal nucles and reversed atrophy in a subpopulation of large, basophilic medical which was previously used in the same primate lesion paradigm.

TL;DR: Gastrointestinal, renal, audiologic, and relatively minor hematologic toxicities may be encountered, but promising methods have been developed to increase the therapeutic index of DDP.

Peripheral neuropathy as a complication of cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II) treatment: a case report.
TL;DR: A 19-year-old woman with a diagnosis of osteosarcoma was initially treated with amputation of her right leg and adjuvant adriamycin and her sensory loss improved over the next 2 months, but became worse after another course of DDP was administered.

Toxic Effects of Adriamycin on the Ganglia of the Peripherial Nervous System: A Neuropathological Study
TL;DR: It is concluded that adriamycin, an important anticancer therapeutic agent, has neurotoxic properties and that it selectively damages the ganglia of the peripheral nervous system.

Ophthalmologic toxicity after cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II) therapy.
TL;DR: Two cases of apparent ophthalmologic toxicity which occurred during treatment with cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II) (DDP) are described, and a patient with testicular carcinoma and breast cancer developed retrobulbar neuritis after three courses of DDP therapy.
