TL;DR: Results from two-dimensional (2D)-PAGE analysis of the ribosomal proteins purified from prothoracic glands demonstrated that p34 is indeed Ribosomal S6, and is phosphorylated at up to five sites (P1-5) upon PTTH stimulation, and that both the phosphorylation of S6 and specific protein synthesis are required for PTTH-stimulated ecdysteroidogenesis in the protharacic gland.

Ecdysone Control of Developmental Transitions: Lessons from Drosophila Research
TL;DR: This review focuses on three major aspects of Drosophila ecdysone biology: factors that regulate the timing of ecDysone release, the molecular basis of stage- and tissue-specific responses to ec dysone, and feedback regulation and coordination of ecdYSone signaling.

Control and biochemical nature of the ecdysteroidogenic pathway.
TL;DR: This review concerns three aspects of ecdysteroidogenesis: how the brain neuropeptide prothoracicotropic hormone initiates a transductory cascade in cells of the protharacic gland, which results in an increased rate of ecdysone biosynthesis and a series of reactions only now being understood because of the use of a combination of classical biochemistry and molecular genetics.

Social exploitation of vitellogenin.
TL;DR: It is shown that vitellogenin is a source for the proteinaceous royal jelly that is produced by the hive bees, which suggests that the evolution of a brood-rearing worker class and a specialized forager class in an advanced eusocial insect society has been directed by an alternative utilization of yolk protein.

The TOR Pathway Couples Nutrition and Developmental Timing in Drosophila
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, in Drosophila, nutrition modifies the timing of development by acting on the prothoracic gland, which secretes the molting hormone ecdysone, which extends the duration of growth and increases animal size.

Peptide hormones, steroid hormones, and puffs: mechanisms and models in insect development.
TL;DR: The cysteines involved in intra- and intermonomer cross-linking of bombyx prothoracicotropic hormone (PTTH) are conserved in the Antheraea and Samia sequences, suggesting very similar folding patterns.

A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of microgram quantities of protein utilizing the principle of protein-dye binding
TL;DR: This assay is very reproducible and rapid with the dye binding process virtually complete in approximately 2 min with good color stability for 1 hr with little or no interference from cations such as sodium or potassium nor from carbohydrates such as sucrose.
