Abstract: Multiple description coding (MDC) is a promising alternative for robust transmission of information over non-prioritized and unpredictable networks Especially, MDC has emerged as an attractive approach for video applications where retransmission is unacceptable or infeasible In this paper, an effective multiple description video coding scheme is introduced This scheme is mainly constructed using motion-compensated prediction in temporal domain and multiple description lattice vector quantization (MDLVQ) for wavelet coefficients The experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme

Multiple Descriptions Video Coding Using Coinciding Lattice Vector Quantizer for H.264/AVC and Motion JPEG2000

- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: A new generic MD video coding scheme is proposed that is based on coinciding similar sublattices of the hexagonal lattice, which shows that the encoding performance of the scheme improves, while the quality of the videos in terms of PSNR of the central decoder remains acceptable.

Embedded image coding using zerotrees of wavelet coefficients
TL;DR: The embedded zerotree wavelet algorithm (EZW) is a simple, yet remarkably effective, image compression algorithm, having the property that the bits in the bit stream are generated in order of importance, yielding a fully embedded code.

TL;DR: By allowing image reconstruction to continue even after a packet is lost, this type of representation can prevent a Web browser from becoming dormant, and the source can be approximated from any subset of the chunks.
