Abstract: Although a wide range of multiattribute decision analysis (MADA) methods are available, the theoretical and applied research about GIS-MADA has focused on relatively small number of multiattribute procedures including: the weighted linear combination, ideal point methods, the analytic hierarchy process/analytic network process, and outranking methods. These four methods will be discussed in this chapter. We will introduce the conventional MADA methods and discuss their extensions to the spatially explicit models. This chapter also provides a brief overview of the GIS-based applications for each of the four methods.

TL;DR: This study provides an effective implementation methodology for the hybrid use of GIS-based MCDA techniques within the scope of sustainable urban land management practices in smart cities.
A New Hybrid Decision Making Approach for Housing Suitability Mapping of an Urban Area
TL;DR: An evolutionary-based map through the combination of hybrid Multicriteria Decision Making and Geographical Information System by assessing suitability of housing location in Turkey shows that technology used in the application performed in Turkey is an important and powerful technology in providing decision support for spatial planning.
Modelling the forest transition in Central Western Ghats, India
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the likely land use transitions by 2022 across zones based on transitions during 2004-2007, 2007-2010, 2010-2013 was done through cellular automata and Markov chain process (MC) and highlighted the loss of forest cover by 66.55-56.76% by 2022 in the coastal zone with escalating population density.
