Assessment of Genetic Diversity in Guava ( Psidium guajava ) Germplasm Using Microsatellites
M. V. Naga Chaithanya,M. R. Dinesh,C. Vasugi,D. C. Lakshmana Reddy,D. Sailaja,Chenna Reddy Aswath +5 more
TL;DR: Dendrograms generated showed that the hybrids clustered with their parents; exotic collections fell into two different sub-groups based on productivity; the wild species formed one group; and Navalar cultivars from Dharwad clustered together, reflecting similar origin.

Genetic Diversity of the Endemic Canary Island Pine Tree, Pinus canariensis
Navascues Miguel,Emerson Brent +1 more
- 06 Feb 2005
TL;DR: Historical and contemporary gene flow within P. canariensis was studied with nuclear and chloroplast microsatellite markers, finding the high levels of gene flow detected would appear to have a positive effect on reforested stands by facilitating the immigration of local alleles from natural stands into potentially genetically depauperate first generation gene pools of reforesting stands.

Molecular and morphological data reveals new insights into genetic diversity and population structure of Chinese cherry ( Prunus pseudocerasus Lindl.) landraces
TL;DR: It is inferred that botanical features such as predominantly selfing characteristics, long lifespan, and insects-pollinated trait lead to the survival of abundant genetic variation and special genetic structure in Chinese cherry.

Overview: Morphological and Molecular Markers role in Crop Improvement Programs
Atnafua Bekele,Endashaw Bekele +1 more
- 01 Jan 2014
TL;DR: The knowledge of existing plant genetic diversity is crucial for effective management of crop genetic resources and botanical classification, morphological, biochemical and molecular characterization are schemes used for measurement of genetic diversity.

Genetic Analysis Of Cotton Gene Pool Revealed By Rapd-PCR
Raheel Farrah
- 01 Jan 2011
TL;DR: DNA amplification parameters (Buffer composition, MgCl2, DNA template, primer, dNTPs, Taq DNA polymerase, sample volume, thermocycler program) were optimized to give reproducible bands.

A revised medium for rapid growth and bio assays with tobacco tissue cultures
Toshio Murashige,Folke Skoog +1 more
TL;DR: In vivo redox biosensing resolves the spatiotemporal dynamics of compartmental responses to local ROS generation and provide a basis for understanding how compartment-specific redox dynamics may operate in retrograde signaling and stress 67 acclimation in plants.

Clustal w: improving the sensitivity of progressive multiple sequence alignment through sequence weighting, position-specific gap penalties and weight matrix choice
TL;DR: The sensitivity of the commonly used progressive multiple sequence alignment method has been greatly improved and modifications are incorporated into a new program, CLUSTAL W, which is freely available.
Estimating F-statistics for the analysis of population structure.
Bruce S. Weir,C. Clark Cockerham +1 more
TL;DR: The purpose of this discussion is to offer some unity to various estimation formulae and to point out that correlations of genes in structured populations, with which F-statistics are concerned, are expressed very conveniently with a set of parameters treated by Cockerham (1 969, 1973).

DNA polymorphisms amplified by arbitrary primers are useful as genetic markers
TL;DR: A new DNA polymorphism assay based on the amplification of random DNA segments with single primers of arbitrary nucleotide sequence is described, suggesting that these polymorphisms be called RAPD markers, after Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA.
