Abstract: THIS important introduction to theoretical embryology is well-known to all those interested in the subject. The English translation and adaptation by Dr. Woodger will make it available to a wider circle of readers. The author proposes as a solution to the crisis of present-day biology, the constitution of a purified science which would relate and explain the accumulated facts pertaining to the study of living organisms. As a synthetic principle of this science, the author proposes an organismic theory which would aim at the establishment of the laws of biological systems based on experimental data and on the possible use of mathematical logic.Modern Theories of Development: an Introduction to Theoretical Biology.Ludwig vonBerta-lanffyBy. Experiential Canalization of Behavioral Development: Theory.
TL;DR: In exploring the possible experiential canalization of development, it was found that the mallard duck embryo's contact call plays a canalizing role in species-speci fic perceptual development, and normally occurring experience can canalize behavioral development.
Bridging emotion theory and neurobiology through dynamic systems modeling.
TL;DR: A psychological model of emotion–appraisal states with reference to neural processes is presented, identifying trigger, self-amplification, and self-stabilization phases of emotion-appRAisal states, leading to consolidating traits.
Risk Factors for Onset of Eating Disorders: Evidence of Multiple Risk Pathways from an 8-Year Prospective Study
TL;DR: This three-way interaction suggests a body dissatisfaction pathway to eating disorder onset that is amplified by depressive symptoms, as well as a pathway characterized by self-reported dieting among young women who are more satisfied with their bodies.

Transnational classes and international relations
Kees van der Pijl
- 01 Jan 1998
TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of the development of capitalist classes, such as the Freemasons, that cross national boundaries in the global political economy is presented. But the authors focus on an historical perspective on class formation under capitalism and its transnational integration and international relations between the English-speaking centre of capital and successive contender states.
