Total shale oil inventory from an extended Rock-Eval approach on non-extracted and extracted source rocks from Germany
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the total oil of marine to lacustrine source rocks from German shale oil formations using data from Rock-Eval combined with solvent extraction and found that 17-23% of the S2 fraction is extractable.

Iron speciation in modern sediment from Erhai Lake, southwestern ChinaRedox conditions in an ancient environment
TL;DR: In a core of sub-aquatic sediment from Erhai Lake, southwestern China, four Fe species were identified as paramagnetic Fe3+, superparamagnetic Fe 3+, hematite Fe 3+ and paramagnetic high-spin Fe 2+ using Mossbauer spectroscopy.

Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous black shale formation and paleoenvironment in high northern latitudes: Examples from the Norwegian‐Greenland Seaway
TL;DR: Langrock et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the formation of shallow marine black shales in the Norwegian-Greenland Seaway (NGS) and found that preservation was the principal control on organic matter accumulation.
Shale diagenesis; a case study from the Albian Harmon Member (Peace River Formation), Western Canada
J. Bloch,I. D. Hutcheon +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the silicate diagenesis of a Lower Cretaceous marine mudstone, the Harmon Member, by determining the bulk chemistry, clay mineral compositions and mineral modes using standard analytical techniques and linear programming.
