Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing an OFDM signal which enables a high accuracy frame and frequency synchronization that lead to an extremely low bit error rate compared to a conventional technology and improves the synchronization performance of an OFDM receiver. SOLUTION: The method for processing the OFDM signal comprises a step which decides a maximum value of a metric value (Λ) to each arrangement between a reference pilot pattern and a receiving pilot pattern that is received, and a step (S7) which decides each maximized arrangement and decides a maximum integer frequency offset (f I ) and maximum time offset (T sy ) for the frame synchronization and/or frequency synchronization (S8) of the OFDM signal. A calculation of the metric value (Λ) is performed on the basis of the assessment of a pair (P, (k, 1); P(k, 1+N I )) of the reference pilot cells. Component elements of the pair (P, (k, 1); P(k, 1+N I )) correspond to the same individual frequency (k) and a different individual time (l) and are based on a signal (R(k, 1), R(k, 1+N I )) of a receiving cell corresponding to an individual frequency (k) and an individual time (l). Thus, a defect of that the frame and frequency synchronization are required when decoding the OFDM signal is eliminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
