Abstract: A method for displaying an image is provided in which an optimal lighting pattern is selected so as to reduce pseudo contours and flickers. In an image display for reproducing halftones by a subframe technique, a frame is converted into plural subframes. For each of pixels of a display screen, the lighting pattern that is a combination of on and off of the subframes are determined in accordance with a frame data value of the noted pixel, a lighting pattern of the noted pixel in the past frame and the lighting pattern determined for the peripheral pixel located in the vicinity of the noted pixel and having the same display color as the noted pixel.

TL;DR: In this article, an information communication method of transmitting a signal that uses a change in luminance is provided. The method includes determining a pattern of the change in the luminance by modulating the signal to be transmitted, and transmitting the signal by a light emitter changing in the measured luminance according to the determined pattern.

TL;DR: In this paper, the luminance error between the original picture element signal quantizedly input and the preceding data is converted into plural picture elements and the respective picture elements (pixels) thus converted are compared with the prior data to detect the error, which will then be weighted by multiplying it with certain coefficient to give, for instance, the reproduced error in one line past, that in one dot past and further the reproduced errors in one-line and one-dot past, which would respectively be added to the original pixels.
