Method and device for automatically generalizing map spatial points

Abstract: The invention provides a method and a device for automatically generalizing map space points. The method comprises: step 1, looking up two map space points the nearest on a point map layer; step 2, deleting one of the two map space points which is the nearest to the other map space points; and step 3, repeatedly executing two previous steps till the distance between the two map space points obtained in the step 1 is greater than a preset tolerance value so as to obtain a new point map layer consisting of the remaining map space points. As the process of looking up and deleting the map space point does not need manual intervention of users, work efficiency is greatly improved. The method and the device can automatically generalize the map space points under various distribution laws in various types of map application so as to solve the problem of map contracted compilation well and ensure that data on one scale can be applied to the maps with other scales.
