Abstract: Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome consists of facial paralysis, facial edema, and scrotal tongue (lingua plicata). Granulomatous cheilitis, frequently associated with the name of Meischner, is generally accepted as a monosymptomatic form of the same syndrome, affects both sexes equally. The earliest manifestations usually develop in childhood or adolescence. We report a case in a 20-year-old woman in order to increase awareness of this entity, in both its classical and aberrant forms.

Lorenza C. Zingale,L. Beltrami,Andrea Zanichelli,Lorena Maggioni,Emanuela Pappalardo,Benedetta Cicardi,Marco Cicardi +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that angioedema without urticarial flares (hives) could be classified according to specific clinical and pathogenic characteristics, and a work-up for patients experiencing this condition is suggested.
A clinicopathological classification of granulomatous disorders
TL;DR: Granulomatous disorders comprise a large family sharing the histological denominator of granuloma formation and a complex interplay between invading organism or prolonged antigenaemia, macrophage activity, a Th1 cell response, B cell overactivity and a vast array of biological mediators.

Rutger I. F. Van der Waal,Engelbert A.J.M. Schulten,Erik H van der Meij,Martijn R. van de Scheur,Theo M. Starink,Isaäc van der Waal +5 more
TL;DR: Although a relationship has been proposed between Melkersson–Rosenthal syndrome (and the monosymptomatic form, cheilitis granulomatosa) and Crohn’s disease on the basis of the orofacial swelling and similar histology, several studies of Melkerson– Rosenthal syndrome have not found an association with Crohn's disease.

Evaluation of oral mucosal lesions in 598 referred Iranian patients.
TL;DR: It is concluded that there was a highly significant association between these oral lesions and age, gender and smoking, and leukoedema and hairy tongue were significantly associated with smoking, leukoingema with diabetes mellitus.

Molecular identification of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis in an Italian patient with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome.
TL;DR: No causal link has been scientifically established between MAP and Crohn’s disease, although it is important to note that much evidence supports the possibility of such a relationship.
Melkersson-rosenthal syndrome: a case report
TL;DR: This case report describes a 39 years old male patient with recurrent swelling of the upper lip with classical triad of Melkersson-Rosenthal Syndrome, which was presented with special emphasis to the clinical features of this rare condition.
Clinicopathological significance of Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome
TL;DR: The histological finding of MRS includes non-caseating, sarcoidal granulomas, but their absence does not exclude the diagnosis, and these findings together form a basis for a cautious search for confrontational reasons for the symptom complex of M RS.
