Mechanisms That Regulate the Function of the Selectins and Their Ligands
981
TL;DR: Convincing data have been published supporting the idea that selectins and glycoprotein ligands of the selectins participate in the activation of leukocyte integrins.

Administration of Ricin Induces a Severe Inflammatory Response via Nonredundant Stimulation of ERK, JNK, and P38 MAPK and Provides a Mouse Model of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that therapeutic management of the inflammatory response may affect the outcome of intoxication by ricin, and the nonredundant roles of the individual MAPKs in mediating proinflammatory gene activation in response to ricin are demonstrated.
E-selectin Expression and Stimulation by Inflammatory Mediators are Developmentally Regulated during Embryogenesis
David S. Milstone,Peter E. O'Donnell,George Stavrakis,Richard M. Mortensen,Vannessa M. Davis +4 more
TL;DR: The developmentally regulated acquisition of E-selectin inducibility during embryogenesis likely involves changes in signal transduction cascades, transcription factors, and/or chromatin accessibility that specify inducible expression within the endothelial lineage and further restrict in Ducibility to particular endothelial subpopulations.
Mechanisms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis
Thomas Rustemeyer,Ingrid M.W. van Hoogstraten,B. Mary E. von Blomberg,Rik J. Scheper +3 more
- 01 Jan 2019
TL;DR: For most, if not all allergens, along with prolonged allergenic contacts, the role of Th2 cells as effector cells gradually increases given reduced longevity of Th1 responses, but distinct effector roles of allergen-specific Tc1 and Tc2 have been postulated.
Novel antibody-based therapeutic approaches for redirecting T cell effector functions towards tumors expressing CD248 (TEM1)

TL;DR: Using nanofiltration membranes for the recovery of phosphorous with a second type of technology for the Recovery of nitrogen is suggest to be a viable process.

MAdCAM-1 expression and function in human liver.
Evaggelia Liaskou
- 15 Jul 2010
TL;DR: It is reported for the first time that MAdCAM-1 is normally present in human liver and is further induced upon TNFα and methylamine stimulation resulting in the recruitment of mucosal cells to the liver, thus sustaining a destructive inflammatoty influx responsible for the establishment of chronic inflammation.

TL;DR: The results should facilitate the development of therapeutically useful inhibitors of TNF-α release, and they indicate that an important function of adamalysins may be to shed cell-surface proteins.

Leukocytes roll on a selectin at physiologic flow rates: Distinction from and prerequisite for adhesion through integrins
TL;DR: Rolling of leukocytes on vascular endothelial cells, an early event in inflammation, can be reproduced in vitro on artificial lipid bilayers containing purified CD62, a selectin also named PADGEM and GMP-140 that is inducible on endothelial Cells.

Human chemokines: an update.
TL;DR: Of considerable interest is the recent discovery that some chemokines function as HIV-suppressive factors by interacting with chemokine receptors which, together with CD4, were recognized as the binding sites for HIV-1.

Endothelial leukocyte adhesion molecule 1: an inducible receptor for neutrophils related to complement regulatory proteins and lectins
TL;DR: Endothelial leukocyte adhesion molecule-1 (ELAM-1), a cell surface glycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activated endothelium, mediates the adhesion of blood neutrophils and may be a member of a nascent gene family of cell surface molecules involved in the regulation of inflammatory and immunological events at the interface of vessel wall and blood.
