Abstract: Abstract Techniques of matrix theory find wide application throughout engineering and the physical, life, and social sciences. Consequently, matrix methods comprise an important component in any ‘tool kit’ of applied mathematics. This wide-ranging textbook provides a clearly written and up-to-date account of these methods, suitable for both undergraduates and more advanced students. The aim is to provide a down-to-earth approach with results illustrated by many examples drawn from the areas of application. The range of topics covered is large: from basic matrix algebra to advanced concepts such as generalized inverses and Hadamard matrices, and applications to error-correcting codes, control theory, and linear programming. In addition, the book contains numerous exercises, together with answers, making it ideal for students in any field where matrices are used.

Pattern formation properties of autonomous Cellular Neural Networks
TL;DR: It is the opinion that the Cellular Neural Network model provides a method to control the critical instabilities needed for pattern formation without obfuscating parameterizations, complex nonlinearities, or high-order cell states, and which will allow a general and convenient investigation of the essence of the pattern formation properties of these systems.

A Fault-Hiding Approach for the Switching Quasi-LPV Fault-Tolerant Control of a Four-Wheeled Omnidirectional Mobile Robot
TL;DR: The error model is brought to a quasi-linear-parameter-varying (LPV) form suitable for designing an error-feedback controller and a switching LPV virtual actuator is added to the control loop in order to obtain fault tolerance within the fault-hiding paradigm.
Analysis of the frequency-domain block LMS algorithm
TL;DR: This work shows how the transformation of input samples to the frequency domain, combined with the effect of the involved windowing matrices, and step-normalization affect the convergence behavior of both constrained and unconstrained versions of the FBLMS algorithm.

Track-to-track fusion with dissimilar sensors
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of a kinematic state vector fusion algorithm when tracks are obtained from dissimilar sensors is described. But the performance of such a track-to-track fusion algorithm can be improved if the cross-correlation matrix between candidate tracks is positive.

Direct blind MMSE channel equalization based on second-order statistics
TL;DR: A family of new MMSE blind channel equalization algorithms based on second-order statistics are proposed, which can effectively equalize single-input multiple-output systems and can reduce the multiple-inputmultiple-output (MIMO) systems into a memoryless signal mixing system for source separation.
