Optimization of periodic input waveforms for global entrainment of weakly forced limit-cycle oscillators
TL;DR: In this article, a general method for optimizing periodic input waveforms for global entrainment of weakly forced limit-cycle oscillators based on phase reduction and nonlinear programming is proposed.

Some Joys and Trials of Mathematical Neuroscience
TL;DR: Simple stochastic accumulator models can reproduce both behavioral and electrophysiological data and offer explanations for human behavior in perceptual decisions and their relation to an optimal strategy for identifying a signal obscured by noise is introduced.

Outgrowing Neurological Diseases: Microcircuits, Conduction Delay and Childhood Absence Epilepsy
John Milton,Jianhong Wu,Sue Ann Campbell,Jacques Bélair,Jacques Bélair +4 more
- 01 Jan 2017
TL;DR: This work links the paroxysmal nature of seizure recurrences in CAE with time-delayed multistable dynamical systems, and shows that all of these microcircuits can generate multistability provided that \(\tau \) is large enough.

Fabrication of New Belousov-Zhabotinsky Micro-Oscillators on the Basis of Silica Gel Beads
TL;DR: The abilities of silica gel and the widely used ion-exchange resin BZ beads to oscillate in a catalyst-free BZ solution are compared and the period of the BZ oscillations increases with an increase in the diameter, while the ability of the ion- Exchange resin beads to hold catalyst molecules significantly decreases with a decrease in pH.

Morris-Lecar Model.
Alla Borisyuk
- 01 Jan 2014
TL;DR: The Morris–Lecar model is a reduced two-variable model of action potential generation, originally formulated by Morris and Lecar (1981) in their study of barnacle muscle electrical activity and later popularized as a reduced model for neuronal excitability.

Semigroups and Ordered Categories. I. The Reduced Case
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between certain classes of ordered small categories, introduced by Charles Ehresmann in the course of his work on local structures, and the class of U -semiabundant semigroups, first studied by El-Qallali and by de Barros.

Expansions, free inverse semigroups, and Schützenberger product
Stuart W. Margolis,J.E Pin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a new construction of the free inverse monoid on a set X. Contrary to previous constructions of [9, 11], their construction is symmetric and originates from classical ideas of language theory.
